Hello, I’m Tom the Academic Officer for the Huddersfield University Business Society writing this blog in thanks to the 3D Printing Society for our recent work together.
For our last HUBSoc quiz I wanted to add a bit of a wow factor. I’d spoken to my friend who does Archaeology in Bristol and he told me his Archelogy Society do a quiz every year where the winning team wins ‘The Golden Trowel’ trophy and apparently people go nuts for it. So, I had the idea of having a ‘Golden Briefcase’ trophy.
I had no luck in trophy shops or online, but after the SU awards I had the idea to get in contact with the 3D printing society. After a few messages with Younes we met up in Zetland. I (poorly) sketched out some ideas and we had a good and productive chat about the options and next steps. Younes was more than helpful and it was really nice to see him excited about the project.
Taking Younes’s advice and enthusiasm I got the trophy designed by Callum Rowe an Illustration student and sent the file over.
The next week it was printed by the 3D Printing Society committee member Matthew Heath, using Zortrax M200 and Z-ABS as the material.
I am incredibly happy with the result. Everyone I’ve shown has been very impressed and we have had extra enthusiasm for the upcoming Quiz!
I would like to say thank you once again to Younes and the amazing 3D Printing Society for the amazing Trophy, we look forward to collaborating again in the future!
